Charles, that is a BEAUTY! The 4" M19 would probably rank as the most versatile handgun in existence, IMHO. No matter what purpose a fellow might need a handgun for, the 4" M19 can be made to serve at least well, if not optimally.

I don't happen to have one myself, but only because I have for many years had a "pet" Model 13 that shoots exactly to the fixed sights and serves the same purposes.

Ya can't beat 'em!

looks great but condition doesn't matter that much (reply)

That is one of the best "packin pistols" ever made, and while actually using it you will add some wear to it. So it doesn't matter if it starts out as teh best you've seen or just good.

1967 or early 1968 (reply)

That makes it one of the last 19-2s. My resources say 1961 to 67 for the 19-2s. Great, thanks for the info.

1967 the year I graduated from Law School and became the newest kid lawyer in Brownsville, Texas. I will consider this a belated Law School Graduation present from me to me.

In privous missives, I have told you about Walter Tardy's sword and how Bill Jordan flung a craving on me for a Combat Magnum. Today, I picked up my new Model 19-2 and it is a peach, having almost no blue wear and is as tight as new. I would have to hunt up a NIB collectors model to get one better. I am D-lighted!

I did shoot it while at the range and the function is as smooth and flawless as one would expect of a vintage Smith and Wesson. I also hit what I shot at, which is a real good way to start with a new pistol.

Back home, I put on a set of Bear Hug Skelton grips and had it sit for a portrait. Here she is. Serial number is K779XXX. Anybody have a birthday for this lovely?
