Among non-gun people, the usual reason is their disinterest in firearms, which varies from mild to pathological.

Among gun people, the most common refraint is, 'I don't feel any need to carry in [INSERT PLACE NAME HERE].'

It's a 'free' country − and most certainly a personal choice.

front of the house, aimed at somebody (maybe) in the park across the street. Knife point robbery in that same park, not 200 yards from the house. Stolen bicycles dumped in the neighbor's yard. Drug arrest evaders trying to hide on the front porch. Hmmmm, yep, all loaded and ready to go.

nothin' ever happens 'round here. Everyone is an upright citizen, not like over in Chicago and such. I got my carry permit for when I go to the big city, there's no reason to carry in this little berg.

And never paid any attention to it. When I was working midnights as a cashier in a gas station, they said they would fire anyone who brought a gun onto the premises on the spot. I told them to go ahead and fire me, their job was not worth my life. They never did fire me, even made me employee of the month. Other employers never asked, I never told, they may have suspected, but if they asked me to go into harm's way, I did not go unarmed.

When I worked for the state, it was most definitely against policy to carry at work. Of course, none of us would ever violate policy, not even when, as we frequently did, we had to deal with unhappy and potentially hostile "clients".

We had a great boss. If he had ever asked if we were carrying, we would never have lied to him. He never asked, so we didn't tell, but he always knew who he could count on if things went south.

...when I worked for many years at an office job in Nashville. We were located in a pretty bad neighborhood, and after a couple of employees were accosted by gangstas, the corporation's owner asked me directly if I carried a gun. I 'fessed up, and he said, "Good job, son, keep it up!" Company policy continued to dictate no weapons, but he made it clear to all concerned that I got a pass.

And you would be right, as usual. It is what I wear in the shop, as we have several Glock 21s stashed, along with a Mossberg 500. Outside it is usually replaced by a Glock 32, but the PF9 could serve in lieu of both for general hot weather wear.

The Glock 32 is still my out of town gun, that or a 1911. Been carrying an Ithaca LAPD 37 in the truck for awhile now too.

Not legal for me to CCW now but just completed CCW training for Ohio and will be submitting my application at my July appointment time, then I will carry when I can. XD9C or PT380 or Star PD.

.......the one I have is from The Wilderness, who I think may have been the originators of the idea, or at least one of the first manufacturers. They had (have?) some sort of "in" with quite a few of the Gunsite instructors back in the day.

I also have a sharkskin belt from Rafter S for dress occasions.......
