.375 H&H Load (reply)

I've used Elmer Keith's old load of 300 grain Sierra boatail softpoints, 75 grains of IMR 4350 and CCI magnum primers for a lot of years. This load has been amazingly accurate for me. I've only used this load on deer and never had a problem.

As it gets closer to hunting season, I will decide which of the premium hunting bullets I will use, the Accubond and Partition are 1&2, the Speer Grand Slam is #3. I will likely stick with the 300gr weight, but we shall see, I have read really good things about the 260s, they fly pretty flat, and I can load them to almost 2900fps. I plan on using them to fill a cow elk tag towards Thanksgiving.

So, I have noticed that in .375 caliber

I can buy Hornady 300gr JRN bullets quite a bit cheaper than the 270gr Spire Points, something in me says this is upside down, but hey, until I can get a scope and a mold, they will do. The bolt on this rifle is slicking up very nicely just from working it. I am really taken with this rifle, and think I may have finally found my all around working rifle, not getting rid of my 45/70s, my 30 cals, or my 22-250, but I see this rifle getting shot, a lot.
