The 35 caliber kick. (reply)

I'm with you Jared. They work. Yeah, others work too but there's something about .358" bullets at speed.

So far, I've taken pigs with:
.35 Remington, Marlin 336
.358 Winchester, Ruger 77 Hawkeye
.35 Whelen, '98 Mauser
.350 Remington Magnum, Ruger 77
.35 Newton, '98 Mauser
.358 STA, P14 Enfield

On deck:
.356 Winchester, Marlin 30A
.358 Norma Magnum, '98 Mauser

Fevered dream:
.35 Epps, P14 Enfield

I suppose it's a form of madness but it sure is fun!

Is there an end to the .35 caliber kick? It is funny, I rarely use a .35 cal handgun but I LOVE .35 cal rifles.

Sounds Very Cool!! (reply)

Don't know anyone who does engraving that could make a turn around that short, he is over a year out last I knew, but it sounds like a super commemorative. Even cooler Miss Melody is considering harvesting the hog with it, but there is no shame if she decides not to.

The Wedding Rifle

Well, Dad and Bro' Dan did it again. They presented Miss Melodie and I an Uberti 1866 Carbine in .44WCF in honor of our coming wedding. The reason it's a bit early is that one of the "deliverables" for the reception is a Russian boar to be harvested this coming September. They thought it would be fitting that the wedding hog be shot with a wedding rifle.

I am trying to convince Miss Melodie that she is perfectly capable of taking a hog. She's willing, at least in spirit. We'll see when we get to the ranch...

But I got to thinking yesterday (sometimes not a good thing)...I'd really like to have the side plate engraved a little bit with our wedding date and maybe little filigrees or doo-dads. Nothing too grand and really not much more than the date.

Who would you recommend for such a project?

Thanks!
