Loaded with Sierra MK 200 grainers. @2800 fps its flat trajectory and wind bucking ability make it a real winner @v 500 plus yds.

Good old Elmer used to write in G&A that rifles like the 7mm mag were good for coyotes! So yes, Mr Jurras has it spot on. A feller that considered the 7mm mag equivalent to what we think we should use a .22-250 for would feel a .375 appropriate where we would be toting a .30-06!

Man, I really miss his monthly column........

Yes CAZ Elmer did like it but thought of it as a good MID Bore, like African PH's, was more a fan of the 470 and 500 side by sides. I have seen a couple nice SXS doubles in 375 H & H, but unfortunately were well engraved and out of my league price wise. Would still like to have a custom double made in this caliber but getting a little long in the tooth for such expensive toys.

Nope! Look at what the famose bear guides used/use (reply)

375s. Better bullets have allowed the use of lesser calibers; Hal Waugh and his contemporaries WANTED to like the .338 mag, but as he wrote in the late 60s the .338 looked good on paper but did not perform in the field(At that time)as well as the .375 H&H/WBY.

Ruger sold 8000 of their 375s in Alaska (reply)

While I know this is a drop in the bucket, I also read they are becoming more popular with the PHs in Africa. It would seem the 37s are as popular as ever.

I wonder if one can read too much (reply)

The 375 H&H is truly a Classic, has maintained its credibility all around the hunting fields of the World, extremely versatile. With the 375 and a 22 RF one could hunt anywhere in the World.

I wonder if one can read too much

Concerning the .375? It has been a very educational 5 days, and has earned me some grumblings from my better half, but I must say I am frankly shocked that this caliber in the H&H and other wildcats didn't garner more attention from the cast bullet crowd, as it seems to take to them like a duck to water. My Uncle swears by his for elk hunting, says it has anchored just about every elk he has shot, says it definitely hits harder than the 338 WM and the 300 WM he has carried, still speaks highly of the '06 with heavy bullets. I must say, it was MUCH easier to spend this much time reading about the various 375s (and a few 416s)than it was to read about the 5.56/.223 and their rifles.
