I also concur with him that the 'gun debate' is rife with red herrings.

I recently saw an anti-gun video depicting an 'active shooter' armed with a Brown Bess that ended by saying 'Guns have changed, so should the law' (or words to that effect).

Frankly, the very first thing that came to my mind was that someone should make a video showing WWII-era Nazis machine-gunning a crowd of untermenschen, and end it by saying, 'You better hope so; We're already 70 years behind.'

The thing is, that herring's about as red as they get.

Perhaps when the matter is truly life-and-death, it's hard to avoid casting one out there. I'm not sure, but the 'Nazi connection' was so obvious to me, I could hardly help making it.
