You're right about that Otony... (reply)

I have an 1894P in .44 magnum. I bought it new about ten or twelve years ago and paid $329 for it(lot of money for someone like me). Guy walks up to me at the range the other week and offers me $600 for it! I told him he was crazy, he said they only made them for a couple years, and that given it's condition, I could probably get more! I still don't believe him. Having said all this, I wish I would have bought the equivalent rifle in .357 caliber. If this guy was right, they're probably priced way out of my range now.

In addition to committing the sin of selling off my single-actions, I am presently sans any rifles or shotguns.

I could offer up a few good reasons for the latter, but I have to admit, there is no excuse for the former.

Especially around these parts.

I'm afraid the days of 3-400 dollar Marlin 357s is almost the fond past. Almost....as occasionally one will pop up....momentarily.

I have a 357 Cowboy with the 20" octagon barrel, bought specifically for Natalia, only she complained it was too heavy. Bought a Rossi SS 357 with a round 16" barrel, as I couldn't find a Marlin 357 with round barrel for a reasonable price.

Kept both! There are five Marlins living here, plus the Rossi and a Red Ryder. We like our lever guns......

Is a pre-lock Marlin in .32 H&R Magnum 'desirable'? (reply)

the 32 H&R cowboy and the 32-20 (any configuration)were diccontinued by marlin 4-5 years ago.
Both are now collector guns.
My 32H&R Cowboy is waiting on the collector value to top 1k before I let it go. It will only be a few more years before that happens.
I paid $400 then had it slicked up(cycles smooth as a python now ) then added the one piece firing pin, Lyman globe front and williams tang with merit adjustable apature. So I've got close to 1k in it.

• Safety = Safety Lock.

• Safety Lock = Lock,

• Lock = Safety

You might want to take notes.

There will be a quiz on Monday, and it's closed book.

ETA: Cocked-&-Locked will be on the Mid-Term; Lock, Stock, & Barrel, the Final.
In addition, there will be no further mention of Half-Cocked in the Classroom.

By "pre-lock" do you mean pre-safety? (reply)

If so, then I doubt this gun is a pre-safety, as Marlin started putting safeties on their lever-guns in 1983, and the .32 H&R Mag wasn't introduced until 1984. That being said, the .32 H&R 1894s are indeed highly sought after and "desirable". It would make a dandy little ground squirrel and jack rabbit gun.

I ran my finger across it and couldn't tell (couldn't really see it, either), so you're probably right: It probably had a safety and now has some sort of filler.

I'm pretty sure it's pre-lock anyway.

Leather lace-on pad, otherwise about 95%-98% overall. Looked like a 20" bbl to me. Full octagon. Straight grip stock. Tang or receiver sight (I don't remember which, but I'm pretty sure one was there). No scope marks or extra holes.

Consigned for $800 at the LGS.
