That's very true... (reply)

Truth is we could all get by with a lot less. One of my grandfathers had a Remington 512 .22 that was his only gun in his life and I still have it (learned to shoot with it too). My other grandfather did all his hunting and pest control with a 12 gauge and a .22LR.

But I've kind of hit a plateau with the three I mentioned above.

There's really nothing pushing me to simplyfy any further right now.

I still occasionally think about it, though, so I do have some idea...

I have no idea which one would go first.

Getting simplified... (reply)

I have done the same thing without even knowing it. 45s, more 45s, even more 45s, and some assorted 30 calibers(.308, .32, .357)and a couple of 22s.

That's a good point but... (reply)

That handy little Guide Gun is easy to find ammo for because it tactical enough for the panic buyers:) Besides, for me at least, the fewer calibers I shoot the asker it is to stockpile exactly the components I want for them. I have bought very little ammo at all since this panic buying took place.

I've been there too... (reply)

More than I want to admit. These days if I get bored I'll try a different bullet or powder or even an additional gun in the same caliber. These days guns are good tangible assets, much more so than plain dollar bills our tyrant in chief keeps printing daily:)

I completely agree... (reply)

That's why I have a Colt 1917, Glock 21 and P220 for .45 ACP's, a SBH and a 629 in .44 Mag, etc. They all serve their purpose and some are just because I like them:) It's mainly the calibers and number of different loads in each I've cut back on, but I'm really finding fewer guns is easier to live with as well and t trying to work on being content with less. Quality over quantity these days. Depending how I feel about my G21 after giving it a fair chance I may sell it and use the money toward a Less Baer TR 1911 or just keep it and save the whole lot but I really want that TR 1911.

Variety is the spice of life... (reply)

While you certainly have the basics covered with some very good choices, it is kind of like only eating Vanilla, Chocolate and Neopolitan ice cream. Some days a little Mint Chocolate Chip, Mackinaw Island fudge, Maple Walnut, or Bear Claw tastes really good.

Getting simplified...

I've now reduced my gun collection to 22LR (handguns and rifles), 38/357, 44 Magnum, 45 ACP, .223/5.56, 30-06, 45-70 and a 20 Gauge 1100 LT. The only thing missing is a 9mm (probably gonna be a P226) and a good pump action 12 gauge. It sure makes keeping up with components easier and I can keep a powder measure set for each of the rifles and handguns. I like it much!
