Thanks. I always felt the same way about mine. (reply)

But I've also let a few Milt Sparks goodies go simply because I have less use for them nowadays.

Regarding these two, I'm actually still pretty stuck on the Yaqui Slide.

In spite of its faults as a carrry rig, it makes a dandy place to hang the gun while plinking, and that suits me just fine.

I would likely sell the #1AT, though, because, as I think about it, I really have no particular use for that one.

On the Yaqui Slide (reply)

I finally ordered mine around '96 or so, mostly for nostalgic reasons.

You see, in addition to reading Mad magazine as kid, I also studied diligently at the Temple Of The Holey Triumvirate: Cooper, Keith, and Skelton.

That Cooper character always was a hoot...

I probably should have said 'Front Slide' (reply)

If you think of the gun as a Square Peg, and the holster as a Round Hole. that about sums it up.

If not perfectly drawn, the pistol itself is bound up by this type of hard-molded Yaqui Slide.

The poor Front Sight never has a chance to get in the game.

Well (reply)

Hoot , the 1911`s that I used in it had nice ramped front sights , Fog`s right about it has to be just right to make a good draw. I found the holster that works well for me , it`s also made by Milt Sparks .

RE: 'Yaqui Slide' = 'Front Sight Hook' (reply)

You got that right.

If the Yaqui Slide isn't situated in EXACTLY the right spot, or if your draw isn't at EXACTLY the right angle, the show stops right there (kind of like a 'click' when one expects a BANG...)

The reason I keep it?

It's a 'classic'...('classic' what exactly, I'm not sure, but there it is...)

:/

Classic 1911 OWB holsters by Milt Sparks: A Picture 'Essay' (reply)

Very Nice !! I still have a Milt Sparks Yaqui slide holster, Jeff Cooper like it , I tryed to use it but I found I could not draw the 1911 out of it very fast it would hang up at the front sight. I miss Austin Behlert, He was a grand old gunsmith .
