Independence Arms 5.56 ammo - question

A buddy picked up some Independence Arms Ammo for me. Good price and he didn't specify brand. Is this safe to shoot in my Mini 14? I seem to remember they aren't interchangeable with 556 being hotter. My friend says he has shot this ammo in his mini for years. Opinions?
