45 Colt Case Extractor Groove?

A few years back a friend gave me a box of very old Western 45 Colt ammo. It contained ammo with a copper wash lead bullet. Most of it fired OK but a few did not.

I dumped the fired cases in the tumbler and cleaned them up and put them into a bag of mixed headstamp 45 Colt cases. I started to size that bag yesterday and found the old Western cases would not go into the shell holder. When I looked at them, I realized why. They have no extractor groove above the rim.

When the start putting this extractor groove into 45 Colt Cases? I guess I have not been paying attention all of these years.
