I know very little about cartridge collecting. I did go to a collectors show (read high prices) and there were a load of cartridge collectors there. Could not believe the price of much of that stuff. I would google "cartridge colletions" and see what pops up. You need to get that box of brass 'out there' and see what happens. As you well know...do not GIVE them away...they are worth some bucks.

Any good way to get a real value? No big rush to sell them as they look pretty cool sitting on my book case with my other varied 'stuff'.

Unfired....yer kiddin me !! I've never seen nor heard of a factory box of balloon head 45 brass....EVER. What a very cool item to have. A cartridge collector will go ape over these things.

extractor groove, I have had that experience. They are neat and are probably worth something to somebody. I would think that one (maybe more) of those somebodies frequents this place.

I've had this box of .45's on my shelf for a few years now. These are old balloon headed cases. Just curious if anyone has seen something similar and/or has any idea of age. I first thought that someone had scribbled on it but under the black crayon it says 'Primed'. I'm assuming the box was used for both primed and unprimed cases and the factory just marked out whichever did t apply.

Best I can tell, they have never even loaded. Guy I got them from (at a gunshop) just wanted to get rid of them because they would t fit in his shell holder. I'm assuming its because there is no extractor groove.
