I know nothing about AR-15s, but have used a couple of Shaw barrels on bolt action rifles. I am currently building an 03 Sporter with a Shaw barrel on it.

I think they are good barrels and at least as good, if not better than barrels that come from factories on rifles. I would not hesitate to use one on an AR-15 is I wanted an AR-15 barrel, which I don't.

Like Lee, a Shaw barrel would not be my choice if I wanted the smallest possible groups. Going to have to pay lots more for a barrel like that. But for sporting rifles, they will do just fine.

I have a CMMG upper, another built with a White Oak barrel, one DSA upper coming, and a Double Star barrel here as well. Looking to pick up an M4 style barrel, not upper.

Thank you Lee. My understanding is that their barrels have improved over the years, but to what extent I know not. Their AR barrels are priced well and some google-fu has them receiving decent reviews at ARFcom.

May have to give one a try.......

30 years ago, I used several in my Howdah series. Didn't have any complaints as a hunting bbl. Would probably not use in a LR precision rifle.
