a current reloading manual to have the most up to date info. Beware of the internet for load data.... there are some sick bastards that get a kick out of giving out dangerous data. There are some trusted on-line resources for load data, this is my favorite:http://sixguns.com/

I use a heavier load which is no longer recommended &

Amen to that. Way to much loading data asked for and given on the Internet. Some of the data given is dangerous and irresponsible. A good loading manual will give good, safe and pressure tested data.

That said, the load in question 4.5/Unique/358477 is a good and safe load.

I believe only the older manuals show the 357446 since it had been discontinued many years ago. It is in the Second Edition of Lymans "Pistol & Revolver Reloading Handbook". They're showing Unique starting at 3.5 gr, and topping out at 5.2 gr. My understanding is that this bullet works best when pushed hard. Irritatingly enough, Lyman shows no data for this bullet in the 357 mag, the caliber it was originally designed for.

Per my older Lyman manual that shows that bullet, that should work as you like. Should get some current data though. That bullet is not in the #49 manual.
