I think my Liberal realitives want America to fail... after

It used to be that people who were unable to cope with the realities of life were allowed to live in shacks on the edges of civilization and go hungry except for the generosity of their more astute and prosperous neighbors, or were institutionalized so they couldn't do any harm.

Now they are celebrated as "enlightened" and "socially responsible". Somewhere along the line the rest of us allowed the losers to lay a guilt trip on us and convince us that we were the cause of all THEIR failures.
